BENTLAGE GREEN
Climate neutral by 2030
The BENTLAGE Group has committed itself to becoming climate neutral by 2030.
This applies to SCOPE 1 and SCOPE 2 in accordance with the GHG Protocol.
This means that BENTLAGE records and evaluates direct and indirect emissions from purchased energy.
These emissions are converted into CO2 equivalents (CO2e) to obtain a clear key figure.
We receive support from the KLIMAINITIATIVE OWL (Climate Initiative OWL) of the Bielefeld Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
Companies from the East Westphalia region have joined forces there to achieve this ambitious goal together.

Measures implemented and planned
Sustainability in everyday life
At BENTLAGE, we have been consistently implementing measures to save energy and conserve resources for many years. These include:
• Efficient LED lighting
• Modern machinery
• Automated computer systems for energy optimization
• A security service with intelligent lighting control
• Verifiable and traceable waste separation with clear processes
• ... and much more
These steps are a matter of course for us.
Major project at the Bielefeld site: DruckKlima24
In order to produce the highest quality print products, the temperature and humidity in our production areas must be kept constant. This is a very energy-intensive process.
With DruckKlima24, we have launched a comprehensive project to make our production more climate-friendly and efficient:
• Conversion from indirect to direct air humidification in the printing area
• Optimized air flow in the work areas through new source outlets
• Switch from conventional gas-powered heaters to heat pumps with multi-path technology
Objectives and progress
• The first two measures have already been successfully implemented. This has already led to enormous CO₂e savings.
• The entire project is scheduled to be fully implemented by 2027.
• To this end, we are investing both extensive working hours and considerable capital – for a sustainable future.

Material selection – for a small footprint with a big impact
Our research and development experts are responsible for substitution testing.
Substitution testing began with the desire for more environmentally friendly solvents and additives for our printing inks and varnishes.
The trend is therefore towards processes using water-based, eco-solvent and UV-based substitutes.
These inks and varnishes enable us to manufacture in accordance with REACH and RoHS.
In addition to the printing process, the material to which it is applied is also important.
Of course, we offer PVC-free films such as polypropylene, paper, polycarbonate and many more.
We would be happy to work with you to find a solution for a product that will last for years and deliver results.

Our logistics optimize routes and order sizes, minimize empty runs, and can also provide paperless document exchange via EDI.
We focus on efficient packaging with customized package and pallet sizes.
This saves space and reduces transport.
Bicycle couriers offer us an environmentally friendly alternative for local delivery.
Our paperless systems simplify processes and reduce our ecological footprint.
